My wife and I decided on Scottish terriers because we live in an apartment and from what I'd read, Scotties are very suitable for apartment living. The thing I love most, is that their energy levels seem to adapt to yours. If you are feeling energetic, he will want to play. However, if you're just lying down watching some TV, he'll come lie down next to you and won't bother you. They can be fairly stubborn, and will generally only listen to commands when they see the "value" in doing what they're told. Excellent guard dogs, fairly independent and definitely not a needy dog. Treat your Scottie well and he'll treat you like his king.
