In my opinion, there really couldn't be a better breed of dog.  My Rhodesian Ridgeback, Maggie, is just a doll.  We got her from a breeder, and brought her home as soon as we could!  As a puppy, she potty trained very easily.  I'm still not sure if this was a phase for her, but she had a bad habit of mounting legs etc.  (She doesn't do it anymore though).  Definitely not a guard dog either.  If someone knocks or rings the doorbell she will breifly bark and wait by the door.  Our house was broken into a few years ago, and as much as it kinda sucks, I'm sure she greeted the theifs with a wagging tail.  When I was pregnant she was a little protective of me.  When we brough our daughter home, she was definitely curious... but a little wary too.  My daughter is 8 months old now, and Maggie is still trying to adjust to the change.  Overall, they are an amazing breed.  They do require quite a bit of exercise and i swear she could eat her weight in dog food haha but I wouldn't change a thing!
