Our spitz/corgi mix was great with kids, and very friendly. She had some physical characteristics of a corgi, being short-legged and low to the ground with big ears. She looked a lot like a spitz, as well, being all white and having long, thick fur. We lived in a place that was very hot in the Summer, so we shaved her during the Summer so she wouldn't be hot. This meant buying new clippers every year because her fur was so thick that it burned up the clippers. She required pretty much constant brushing, as well. Her fur tangled up and got mats in it otherwise. You can probably imagine what sort of grooming difficulties we encountered with having a long-haired dog who was short!
