If you're after a family dog with low maintenance, a huntaway is a terrible choice. This dog was one of the worst things that happened to our family. It barked all day and all night, it dug holes everywhere, chewed up the deck and even got under the house and pulled out the underfloor insulation.

He was a very affectionate dog but walk time was crazy! He was so strong so I was the only person who could take him for a walk. The kids couldn't play outside for the whole time we had him.

In the end we had to give him to the council so he could be re-housed.

He wasn't really a good watch dog for one reason, he barked all the time at everything so we had no idea whether he was barking at someone or nothing!

As you can see from the photo, he's a great looking dog, very charming and loveable with a great nature, just too much of a damn ratbag!
