I had the privilege of sharing life with a Feist named Tilly. She was a VERY intelligent, stubborn, opinionated dog! Feists are bred to hunt squirrels and that is a job they take very seriously! Mine did fine with my indoor pets - cats, a guinea pig, and a hamster. However, I did have to work to train her to leave the small rodents alone. Any cats that weren't afraid and came up to her were fine, but if a cat or other small animal took off running, she would instinctively give chase. We did obedience training and she excelled at it. Feists love "their" people, but can be aloof with strangers. I did have to watch her because she would snap at strangers. They are very vocal and communicate constantly with their owners. They would probably not be trustworthy with small children, but ok with older, gentle children. You will never live a dull life with a feist by your side!
