I have been told that Maltese cannot stand being alone. Well, it is absolutely the case with my Sherlock. A distance of one meter is too much for his poor heart.
Actually, everything is too much for his poor heart. Cats, smaller dogs, loud sounds, plastic bags, his own shadow... Everything scares him.
But aside from his general fear for life, he has the most loving heart. All he cares about is loving us (and licking us. And eating meat. Obviously)
So, if you are thinking of taking a Maltese, be ready for a frantic little dog and a lot of love!
