Our lab was truly a family dog. Children? No problem, it knew exactly what is right for a young child and what isn't. It was extremely careful with young children, and was a good play buddy for kids a bit older. Other pets? Not a problem as well. The dog even cooperated with our cats! When we just came back from the pet store and have put the cat food on the table, our cats would go on the table to push it off, and the lab ripped the bag open so the cats could eat from it. It was so intelligent!

Labradors love water. Ours did, our neighbor's did and the pet store owner's lab did. No matter if it's a river, a pond, the sea or simply the bath tub, a labrador will love to take a swim in it. In addition, ours also loved to make a mess from the water bowl. We'd sometimes (more often than not) find the water bowl back in a whole other room, with a whole trail of water leading to it. Wet paw prints on the floor lead to the lab, but it looks so innocent in way as if it was saying: "Wasn't me!".

My experience is that labradors are loyal, family-oriented dogs.
