Buffy the Lab

Buffy is a 4 year old Labrador. I have two labs at this time, Buffy and Bella.

While labs are generally quite intelligent, Buffy is on the lower end of the scale. However, she makes up for it with her sweetness. She is very affectionate, and I swear she smiles. She is protective, but not aggressive. Great with kids and strangers. Labs are terrific beggars when there is even the hope of food, but that is my fault for allowing it. Labs are very trainable.

Labs believe they are a part of the family. You are their pack. So, if you are considering a lab, they need to be an inside dog. You will break their heart if you make them live outside, and apart from you. Don't do it.

Both Buffy and Bella shed like crazy. So, if you are thinking of getting a lab, be prepared. They shed all year too. The best thing to reduce the amount of "dust mice" the size of baseballs, is to take them swimming once in awhile. It cleans out their fur, and besides they absolutely love it. Their is no other expression of absolute joy as that of a lab in the water.
