Rudy came to us from the animal shelter after having been surrendered twice, but he was the perfect match for our family. When strangers walked on the street or sidewalk outside, he barked relentlessly, but calmed immediately when we welcomed a guest into our home. He was also very good with our cats and our kids.
Rudy did have a few bad habits. Though he was housebroken, he would sometimes potty in the house, especially when he was anxious over being left alone. He was also a food thief and a beggar.
He had some health issues as he grew older, some which were common for his breed. Knee and hip dysplasia were problems from age nine and older. He also had problems with his teeth and ended up having to have several pulled. His teeth problems resulted in bad breath, and these problems persisted from the time we adopted him at age seven until he passed away.
Overall, Rudy was a wonderful dog. I would eagerly adopt another Jack Russell mix.
