Patsy chose us when we walked into the pound. She is incredibly social with people, but seems to have grown increasingly snippy with other dogs. She also has begun "resource guarding" whether it be food, her spot on the couch, or even her chosen spot on my bed at night!
Nonetheless, she is one of those dogs that make people come running toward her going "look at you!!" or "what a happy dog!" It is this enthusiasm and tail wagging good nature that has caused our friends to fall in love with her. Yesterday, she was so excited to see one of our friends that she peed a little bit and ran in circles squealing with joy. It is quite a sight.
She barks only when she senses danger. I was able to teach her not to bark at the doorbell, for instance, but if the person who rang the doorbell is shady, she starts barking immediately. This makes her a decent watch dog, but really, that's not her strong suit. She cares far more about protecting here territory from rogue squirrels and feisty birds than she cares to protect my MacBook Air from thieves. She would probably wag them to death with her whip-like tail.
