We got Maximus at a pet store in Hawaii when he was only about 7 weeks old. He was so small you could hold him in your hand and still have room left to spare. I wasn't sure if he would get over his nervousness and shaking since I had never had or experienced an encounter with chihuahua/Jack Russel mix. After long months of working hard with him, he was finally house broken. It may have been faster if we had crate trained him, but I personally don't believe in crate training. After about 8 months we had him neutered, that still didn't calm him down, not in a bad way or anything, he was never a bad or tempered dog we were hoping it would calm his nerves but it didn't. He was super loving though and by all means the typical ankle biter, no one could even raise their voice around his parents without Maximus letting them know all about it and if anyone ever tried to hurt you he would have given his life willingly to protect you without a shadow of a doubt in my mind. With age he began to calm down a bit though, but still to this day his energy is through the roof it's just in shorter spurts. I believe now that it was his mix that made him so on edge per say with his nerves and maybe that is why he was soooooo hard to house break. All in all with Maximus we wouldn't have traded our time with him for the world. He is a super lovable little guy with a heart of gold and loyalty that is impossible to duplicate.
