Brittany was a dog that my family and I owned for too short a time. She was very sweet and loving, though quite rambunctious. I really wouldn't want her around small children because, though she was very friendly, I would be concerned that her high energy and activity level could make her too overwhelming or possibly accidentally dangerous to small children.
She required quite a bit of grooming in order to maintain her long, beautiful coat. Aside from that though, she was a fairly easy to manage dog.
She wasn't particularly picky about her food, and was happy with the Purina we got at the grocery store, so she wasn't terribly expensive in that regard. The initial investment of purchasing and training her was a bit costly, but less so than normal because we didn't get her from a professional breeder and sought training courses at the local humane society. The one cost that my family wasn't aware of was heart-worm prevention, which is truly regrettable.
I cannot stress enough how sweet and friendly she was, nor how energetic! She required walking at least 3 times a day (30 min to 1 hr), and sometimes that wasn't enough. Other than that though, she was a fun part of the family.
