My family rescued this pooch as an adult. She had an external tumor and heart worms. We did not want her to be put down. My family decided to adopt her because we felt no one else would. We took on the responsibility of her vet bills for recovering from heart worms. Unfortunately, she never recovered. While we had her, the first week was difficult. She was used to being the only dog so there was an adjustment period for our other pooch. Once we established that my husband and I were the Alphas in our pack, she was very well behaved. Great with our children and our other pooch. Shedding was very minimal. Temperament was fantastic. Once we began training her she understood very quickly how to follow the common commands; sit, stay and lay down. She barely barked and loved to be in our laps on a constant basis.
