Sable was the most intelligent dog I've ever owned - when she wanted to go for a walk, she would grab her leash in her mouth, walk over to us, and drop it in our laps! She was extremely smart and was always gentle with young children - my mother did home daycare at that time and all of the children loved Sable, she got along with all of them. She also LOVED to play fetch and tether ball and simply adored swimming in the pool or playing in the water hose!
She preferred to be inside opposed to outside and often barked when someone would ring the doorbell or come over for a visit - but she stopped once they came inside and sat down and was never aggressive in any way. The only time she was aggressive was whenever she would get jealous over our female Pomeranian.....the two got into a few fights throughout the years, unfortunately, and the little Pom payed the price. But other than female jealousy, she was never mean or aggressive to our other dogs or strangers.
She shed moderately, especially when losing her winter coat, but was pretty easy to groom. She was also always in very good health and passed away at 13 of natural causes. She was always a sweet, loveable, playful dog!
