A Complicated Sweetie
It's very important to remember how the treatment of a pet by its previous owner can affect its temperament. My German Sheperd, Sweetie, is exactly that a sweetie. However, according to her previous owner she most likely was abused by his roommate at point. Because of this Sweetie is easily stressed by loud noises and strangers. Even though she gets along with cats, she has to be acclimated with meeting a new dog before she can socialize with the dog properly. She was crate trained by her previous owner. But because I do not like keeping large dogs in a crate, I had to retrain her to treat it as a bed instead of a living area. Despite all the small issues that she has, I still find her to be a complicated sweetie.
