I call most dogs the best dog ever, but in the case of Leila, a German Shepherd, it’s probably the most accurate. Like most of my family’s dogs, Leila came from the Humane Society. I chose to play with her because while all of the other dogs were barking their heads off, Leila was quiet. The entire family fell in love with her.
We had our Shepherd for seven years (which were cut short by cancer), and in that time she couldn’t have been more perfect. She was playful, but not so much that she wouldn’t calm down when it was time. She was energetic. We were told she wasn’t good with kids, but she proved that wrong, being wonderful with every one she ever met; she was also great with my cat. She was easy to handle, perfectly behaved, and between my experience with Leila and other, similar, mixes, I most definitely recommend Shepherds.
