Great Watch Dog and Good with Kids
As a child I had two German Shepherds. Both were excellent guard dogs and easy to groom. German Shepherds are loving and loyal to the families or people who adopt them, but fiercely territorial. While a generally healthy breed, some German Shepherds suffer from hip dysplasia later in life. I would recommend being careful with mixed breed shepherds as one of the dogs I owned was a German Shepherd/Collie mix and somewhat aggressive.
