Shepherd Mix: sweet, needs exercise

My family's second dog is a Shepherd / Chow-Chow mix. Both of those breeds are known for the ability to be aggressive, but our Bella isn't. Don't know if that's typical for this mix, but that's our experience. She's extremely submissive and sweet and has never become aggressive with any person. She has the blue tongue and super-thick fur of the Chow-Chow, so we've found this mix a real challenge to keep groomed. She's got the face and body shape of the German Shepherd, so she's a very handsome looking dog. She needs daily vigorous exercise and a lot of positive attention. She's very loyal, but she needs affection or she starts getting depressed. She's always been wonderful with kids, though she does snap at the newest doggy addition to the family sometimes. I think this mix would be wonderful for someone athletic who lives in a colder climate.
