Positive:
-This is a highly intelligent breed, extremely clever and quick to pick up training.
-Very obedient and loyal.
-Lapphunds are an independent breed and do not need constant attention. They often prefer to be by themselves.
-They have been bred as reindeer herders and their lineage for this reason is very healthy and emotionally stable.
-Very calm, my dog was not fazed by other dogs, cats, or children.

Negative:
-Lots of shedding due to the long hair! Needs constant grooming, but brushing is enough.
-Lapphunds in general have a tendency to bark, being herders. However, we trained our puppy early on not to bark and he was very obedient about this.
-Lapphunds need plenty of exercise and fresh air, so if you're not an outdoor person this is not the dog for you.
-I suspect that Lapphunds would not make very good guard dogs, they are quite calm and stable.
