I have had three finnish lapphunds in my life. They are smart, independent, friendly, active, quick to learn, loyal and very healthy. They love wlaking in the woods and hiking, sniffing around and spending time outside. They need minimal grooming and have very few hereditary diseases - they are a perfect choice for my countryside family life.

They are not for everyone though: they hate everything repetitive, so agility, long distance running and even playing fetch might not work out. They bark a lot so living in a high-rise or row house might piss off the neighbors. They are very social, so even though they are great guard dogs, they can't spend most of their time outside alone - they need to be with their herd.

And because of that social nature, puppies left alone might cause a lot of damage - we are still missing parts of our wallpaper..
