One of the best spaniels to own is one of these. They're bigger than a cocker and they're bred to work so they've got the drive and intelligence to keep up with whatever you need. But they're also amazing family dogs. Weekly brushing is necessary and they can go a bit crazy when they're off leash and forgot how to come back, but other than that they're wonderful family dogs that are patient, kind, and loving. If you've been considering a spaniel for whatever reason, go check out a rescue and talk to owners. Most working breeds come with high energy and drive so that might not be your thing. But if you like to hike or do anything outdoors these dogs can keep up with you.
