Summer the English Springer Spaniel

Summer was a stray dog that my family adopted from a friend. She was a very smart, gentle dog. I believe the Springer Spaniel is a great dog for a family. She was the perfect size, not too big but not too small. She required some grooming, mostly of her ears and trimming of her feet and underbody. She was loyal, greeted everyone with a sit and shake, and only barked when necessary. Comparing her to other dogs I've owned, she trained very easily. We ended up putting her down because she went blind and deaf. Her quality of life was suffering, so we made a very hard decision. Bigger dogs typically have shorter life spans than smaller dogs, Summer was no exception.
