English Springer Spaniels - a definite family-friendly dog

I love English Springer Spaniels for families. Having children, it is extremely important for my dogs to be gentle and yet protective around the kids. Springer Spaniels really fit the bill better than any other breed I have experienced. They stay close to home, don't run away like other dogs can, very family friendly, they are always watchful of my children and careful not to knock them down or bite. They are very highly intelligent and train very well and easily, and they listen very well. They would be lost without a family and can tend to get lonely or anxious if left alone quite a lot, so they would need to be with a family that liked spending time with a dog. They are diggers and sometimes have anxiety problems if left home alone too often without proper crate training. Puppies like to chew a lot, but pig ears or rawhide keeps them busy for hours.
