Ben was a black and white dog who was incredibly friendly, loyal and wonderful company. He would wait at the door for each family member and would bark at those he thought he was protecting us from - this meant anybody knocking on the door! He was incredibly protective but never aggressive and had a playful streak which injected some laughing therapy just when it was needed. Walks were his favourite activity although he had a habbit of running after birds - often he would be waiting for me at home, with prickles from the Australian bush stuck all over the long bits of his fur which could be a nightmare to groom! He loved adventure and he kept us all fit. His real passion however was food - it really didn't matter what food it was - he would eat apples, lettuce, anything he could get his hands on and would always be under the table which was handy when trying to discard of vegetables! He always knew when things weren't right and gave you the unconditional love by being fantastic company. After years of detesting each other he and my cat grew to love each other which was quite amazing considering the cat loved nothing more that swiping at his nose. Indeed he was very therapuetic and placid and will be embedded in the family memory forever.
