When we got Teodoro, it was hard not to be touched by his cute and needy eyes. My experience of English Cocker Spaniels was very intense, since they are very caring and tolerate other animals when raised together (except for birds). Anyway, nothing more cute than a puppy who loves playing with kids.
But the cons started dropping by one by one, since when Teodoro was very young.
From constantly chewing shoes and furniture to chasing and killing birds very fiercely, Teodoro's needy traits would reach the unbearable as he always demanded loads of attention and would get depressed when alone. Definitely not a good ideia if you are a workaholic.
He would always be anxious for a walk and very jealous in the presence of others.
In case you are considering having an English Cocker Spaniel, be attentive to his ears: they tend to have Otities. Hygienization is a must for their ears's health and for a good smell too. Another point of attention is Gingivitis. Maybe because of their loose cheeks, that's another special care we must take.
Teodoro passed 3 years ago, but we will always remember him as a very human and affectionate dog, unfortunately incompatible with our modern lifestyle once we are minimally active in other duties.
