Collecting tax proved to be a risky job in Germany in the past and several tax collectors had been killed during their work by those who had to pay taxes. In order to overcome this problem in 1890 Karl Friedrick Louis Dobermann a German Tax Collector bred this dog carrying all the traits of a watch dog. More than 10 breeds of dogs had been crossed in the process of breeding Dobberman Pincher. In the past it was considered as a guard dog but today this breed has become a very common breed of pet dogs.
Doberman Pincher dogs are proud , obedient and loyal to their masters. There is a misconception that Dobermans are aggressive but they become friendly pet dogs if properly trained and looked after well.
Fast runners and react quickly to both strangers and strange sounds.
"Bimbo" was the name of my dog. This female Doberman I obtained from a breeder of Doberman dogs when it was a puppy just a few weeks after it was weaned. Even the wound of the docking of the tail was not completely healed when I found it. Bimbo by nature was very lazy and quiet . Besides it rarely barks at strangers. She was very friendly with cats. After a bath it preferred to run round the whole garden . It hated to be chained and whenever the chain was shown she hid herself in the kennel. Though it hardly barked its peculiar bark could frighten the other dogs and the visitors to my place. If Bimbo was hungry it had the habit of opening its mouth as a gesture . `
Usually Bimbo did not like traffic and seldom went out of the garden but unfortunately one day when she followed me a reckless driver ran over it when it was crossing the road Bimbo died on the spot.
I recommend Doberman dogs because its appearance and bark are sufficient to be a proper watch dog.Proper training is very essential but over petting could
