Dobermans are very protective of their family. Sasha was a rescue who took a little time and a whole lot of patients. She took a while to settle in with our brood but became the dominant female. Sasha had a loveable nature around us but took unkindly to strangers and guests. With a rescue it is difficult to know what happened to them in the past and as such her aggression may have stemmed from abuse earlier in her life.
In general Dobermans are easy to groom, active and loveable pets. They are good around kids aged of 5 and up. Their high strung temperament can make them unpredictable around little kids with curious minds and heavy hands.
The vet estimated Sasha was around 7 when we got her and she got to experience a loving home for her final days three short years later.
When it comes to rescues you never know what baggage they carry and it can be an adjustment to the household.
