We acquired our Doberman at one year of age, from a rescue shelter, neglected and both skiddish and hyper, we assume from previous abuse, but also so excited to have a new home. Both faded quickly and he has grown into a perfect three year old dog. He is hyper when he's playing, but perfect around babies. Plays as if he is going to kill our smaller dog, but has never harmed a hair on her head. Does not bark, as trained. Has never had an accident indoors. Listens to commands spoken like from human to human. No treats necessary. He knows what "let's go see daddy" means. He opens the backdoor on his own. When he and mom are home alone, he is extra alert and protects her from the wind. He is a farm dog and has never harmed any livestock.
