Doberman Pinschers are great guard dogs....who needs a security system when you have a Dob! They watch over their family. It is very important that every family member be the pack "leader" though or a Doberman can become willful and stubborn. They need to be socialized at a young age to ward off skittishness. They also need a lot of exercise and human interaction. They are not good for keeping in the backyard or in kennels. They are intelligent and are very easy to train. They don't need much grooming as their fur is short, just a brushing here and there. These dogs are loyal, confident, dedicated and affectionate and make great family pets if you take the time to train, exercise and lead them.
