We've all read media reports about how aggressive Dobermans can be, but I would say that's total hogwash. My grandpa's Doberman Pinscher was the gentlest creature I've ever met, and she was a great therapy dog for him during his later years. She was frequently seen by his side, looking out for him as he hobbled about slowly.
Grandpa's Doberman was full of energy, and extremely watchful, alert, and brave. You'll need to socialize the Doberman from young so that it doesn't get aggressive and start displaying behavioral problems. The breed does not shed much too, and this makes grooming a breeze.
An excellent guard dog, this is a dog which offers you 110% loyalty -- but only if you train it well.
