Acquired: Worked with pet (didn’t own)
Gender: Male
Training: I haven't learned care / training techniques
I walked a Doberman for two years and they are very loyal dogs and surprisingly into cuddles and being treated like a baby! He was extremely intelligent and easy to train. The owner had very few issues with training and he always worked well with me. We used very positive methods and it worked great.
I would say, however, they're not for everyone. They're not quiet and they won't tolerate strangers very often. They prefer people they know and can be very boisterous. You do need a lot of energy to deal with them. They need a lot of exercise, especially when young. If you want a dog you can just nip out with and be done for the day, this breed definitely isn't for you.
However if you have the time and the energy, they make great companions and are not as nearly tough as they look!
