Acquired: Breeder (hobby breeder)
Gender: Female
Training: Books
My ownership came from the inspiration gained from watching the movie, "The Doberman Gang". The early years were demanding as I got to realise that special attention was needed for this breed. She had regular veterinarian visits especially as I had her ears cut to have the appearance of those in the movies.
As training progressed, I realised that she was more aggressive than the male. This gave me concern as I wondered if it would lead to a problem. Unfortunately, this materialised when, on returning from a fishing trip with a friend one day, she sprung from a door about eight feet away onto the friend's throat. Luckily, she did not inflict a wound as she responded quickly to my command to release her hold.
Apart from that experience, she was caring, obedient and a great source of security. My expectations of her were not met with disappointment as she mostly epitomised the true character of the breed as displayed in the movie.
