She is an absolute joy to be around and has a personality like none other. When she was teething I would give her frozen veggies to help with the discomfort and she would insist that I hold them as she nibbled on them and pressed them against the sore gums. She has NEVER destroyed any furniture/shoes/etc. When she is left home alone she sleeps. I've never received any complaints about her barking or behaving inappropriately. Her Mastiff calm counters her Boxer excitement making her far more manageable. She is more Mastiff in that the moment she feels I've settled into a location (i.e. laid out a blanket at the beach/park) her first instinct is to create a territory, which she then guards. When she is in this frame of mind her guard is against other dogs. This can be a problem because she is a big dog and has a stubborn streak. It is something we are working on together and she is improving on steadily. Every morning and evening she does a "perimeter check" (walks the property) before starting her day or turning in for the night. She is quite active during the day (I try to take her on at least 3 long walks every day) but she likes to wake up late and turn in fairly early. She is wonderful on leash and off. She isn't a great swimmer but she loves the beach. She has some health problems that are genetic (demodex and an auto-immune issue) and ongoing. She is also very people oriented. She absolutely LOVES people. She doesn't slober as much as one would think from a mastiff/boxer mix -only when she's particularly hot or has just had some water.
