I have only had one experience with this beautiful breed and my experience may be a little skewed. I got this dog from a friend that had rescued it from an abusive home. The abuser was male so Candy never liked any men at all. This breed is very loyal and protective of their owners. This instinct can make them dislike strangers and even guests in your home. They also do not have a high tolerance for loud noises and the active play that comes from smaller children.
Candy loved to go outside and run around and play. This breed also has a very high prey drive and loves to hunt. I had an inside rabbit at the time that could never be out unless Candy was outside because she would try to hunt it.
Candy was a great dog and I always felt so protected around her. She would sleep with me every night and always kept me feeling safe. This breed is fantastic but one that takes some nurturing of some traits and training to control other traits.
