Dalmatians are very high energy, which is great if you are a runner or have a big yard. Crate training is advisable. If they are left unattended and become bored, they may be destructive (ripping up flooring or damaging cabinets, potentially with the assistance of a basset hound accomplice in our case).
They are loving animals who require a lot of exercise and quite a bit of attention. Dalmatians would not be ideal for a family with a new baby or toddlers because they can be clumsy in their enthusiasm.
