I got Kinsey and Cleo as puppies and unfortunately, at the time, I didn't know much about the importance of training dogs.  If Dalmatians are trained in obedience early, socialized as puppies and rules reinforced consistently, they are wonderful companions.  Like most breeds, if you treat them well you will get lots of love and joy in return.  Dalmatians do need a lot of exercise when they are younger and this is the main thing to consider when thinking about getting a Dalmatian.  Also, they shed - ALL THE TIME!  You have to be OK with dog hair on your clothes, on your couch....if you want this breed.  Now that my girls are older, they are the biggest couch potatoes!  Wouldn't trade them for anything.
