My long-haired dachshund Missy

Missy was my childhood dog, and I didn't have the experience or knowledge to train her or teach her tricks. She was quickly house-trained and had just a few accidents in the house throughout the years. Save for a few socks and my favorite shoes, she was never very destructive once she was no longer a puppy.

Dachshunds can be very active, but also very lazy. Missy could play for hours, and in her prime I'd always get tired first. But at the end of the day she was a great naptime buddy. As an adult she was very stable, we never had any biting problems or serious behavioral problems, she was one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. Very good with children and other dogs.

I gave the dachshund a 0 in health, because they're known for having back problems - how could they not, they're so disproportionate! I wouldn't get another for this reason, as sweet as Missy was - as she got on in years, she never had back problems, but she did lose a lot of her mobility towards the end, and having tiny legs didn't help!
