Reba was a long haired dachshund that we got from a rescue shelter. She was just a ball of love and joy. She was easy to care for and great with kids. She did like to dig and as she aged, she did have some problems with her back. I would recommend that if you get a dachshund that you get a step stool or something to help them climb up on the couch. They can hurt their backs by jumping up and down off furniture. They make great pets and I would recommend them to any family that wants a delightful companion animal.
