In writing about my experience with Fonzy, I cant help but think that on paper, he was not a very good pet - he was loud, stubborn like a mule, could not be trusted not to chase/hunt/eat any smaller animals and I grew up in a state of fear that any stair or jump would damage his spine (dachshunds are prone to spinal complaints). But none of that sums up the amazing attitude and character this dog had. Loyal to fault, if I got sick and was stuck in bed, he would not leave my side. If some kid was picking on me, he instinctively knew and could be quite a vicious little dude when he wanted to be.
Apparently toilet training him was a serious pain, but I was just a kid and do not remember that... my parents tell a different story about this little guy I must confess - but in terms of my experience, Fonzy the dachshund was the best friend a boy could have
