A Sausage named Spike

Spike is your typical dachshund - cute as a button but do not be deceived into thinking that's all there is to this little sausage. He is lively and playful - oh my word, does he ever stop?! And stubborn and persistent in wanting his own way. A line from our ever favourite Downtown Abbey captures our beloved Spike perfectly...."She takes after the dachshund. She is quite untrainable."

And that there is the crux of the matter. Sausages creep into your heart and then proceed to do whatever they want with style, flair and courage. They listen selectively - always! They will walk on a leash with no problem until you actually take them out in public - then it's mayhem. Haha. They will sit on you when you are sitting - on your neck, your foot, your arm, your leg - any body part will do. This describes Spike. Oh and they will eat anything....and I mean anything.
But he is devoted and sweet. So get a dachshund at your hearts peril - it will be at war for ever after - vascillating between unadulterated unconditional love for this funny looking creature and sheer frustration at his or her desire to be independent yet dependent all at the same time.

Have fun! We sure do!
