The first pet that ever left an impression on me was my first dachshund Ralphie. I received him as a pet in the summer of 1986, just before the school year started. He was an extremely active and curious dog, with very cute mannerisms like tilting his head to the side when encountering a new experience. Dachshunds, like Ralphie, seem to be very nervous, temperamental dogs with a high level of playful aggression. Slight teasing would cause him to energetically roughhouse with me. Ralphie loved to bite and bark loudly. He was also a very stubborn dog that was hard to train.
