I could go on and on about sweet little Charlie. If it is possible to have a perfectly imperfect companion, this was him. Being so small, at a little over 8lbs, he seemed to have a complex. He swore he was the biggest, toughest dog around but would run and hide if his barks were not scary enough. He loved attention, loved to sit in your lap and get his belly rubbed. If you were not paying attention to him, he would nuzzle your hand as if to say, "Rub my belly!"
My son was 7 when Charlie joined our family. I had heard that this breed was not the best with children but Charlie was great with my son. However, if another child came around, he would bark like crazy!
Charlie was one of the most obedient dogs I have owned, if you were watching him. If not, he would find himself in all types of situations. I even walked in the kitchen one time to find him on top of the stove! And forget about baby gates to keep him out of areas you did not want him in. He could literally climb over them.
All in all, his mischievousness was at most times hilarious and his sweetness outweighed anything bad that could be said about him. We miss you Charlie!
