Experience with a dachshund

As a puppy, my dachshund came very shy and timid (she was probably missing her mother and siblings). However this only lasted for approximately one and a half weeks. After which she was very fierce and vivacious. She would bark and try to confront other dogs at the park that were at least twice her size. It was also sort of difficult to house train her. She would pee and poop on the carpets and even on the bed! But after about a month and a half she finally got it. As an adult dog she is very protective of me and the family. She won't let anyone in the yard and she will bark and lunge at them until we come hold her back. She stays very healthy and we hardly have to take her to the vet for unscheduled reasons. The only issue she has had throughout her life is with her skin. She gets a rash on her skin often that sometimes turns into mange. The vet says it is because we bathe her too often and he recommends bathing her once every three weeks. However if we leave her that long she gets extremely smelly. Even when we do not bathe her for three weeks she still develops the mange. She's had two sets of healthy puppies (one on purpose and one by accident) which were sold.
