Dachshund is a friendly breed. They go along very well with almost everyone even though they can bite quite fiercely if they feel disturbed.
Having a hunting instinct in their genetics, socializing with other animals, especially small animals, should begin as early as possible.
Their long spine needs extra attention: don't let them jump on people because the spine might not be able to support the long body and can break and keep them in good shape so the spine doesn't have to carry all the extra weight.
