'Sausage Dog' (Standard Daschund)

My dog, Ruby, was extremely loyal and protective. If I was holding her no-one could come near me without her barking madly at them. Friends who have Daschunds experience the same so I believe this is pretty much a breed standard.

This breed averages around 8kg to 15kg and either have long hair, wire hair or short hair.

Ruby was very intelligent and picked up commands really easily. I have seen this in my friends' Daschunds too.

So if you want a small breed that is a very loyal, clever, affectionate lap-dog, this is the breed for you... They can be prone to separation anxiety though, so this is not a breed that you can leave alone all day while you are out at work!
