I adore my dachshund. I always refer to her as the cutest, sweetest, smartest, funniest, most amazing dog ever! She is a great guard dog. I feel very safe when she is with me. She loves to be held and go on walks. She is very loyal and loving. I adopted her when she was about 4 years old, so she was already potty trained - thank goodness! However, she does suffer from separation anxiety. She likes to be with me or other family members all the time. When we leave the house, she often scratches the doors and drools. She is fine with family members, but she has always been very protective when other people or animals approach us. She is a bottomless pit when it comes to food. So it easy for her to gain too much weight, which can cause back and other health problems. For the most part, she has been very healthy. I usually only have to take her to the vet annually. She is truly my best friend, and she means so much to me!
