We inherited Jax when my father passed away unexpectedly. We already had two dogs at home and were really unsure how Jax would fit into our house. But he was my dad's beloved companion and he had nowhere else to go. We couldn't bear to put him in a shelter. Jax turned out to be wonderful - he was so gentle that my other dogs couldn't do anything but like him. He was so much better crate-trained and housetrained than my two, he put them to shame! His demeanor with our family and friends was wonderful too - he was very friendly without being annoying. Several times they remarked how calm he was with their children. He did have some minor health problems - skin issues which needed some special shampoo and food. He was very good on a leash and followed basic commands easily. Eventually we decided that two dogs was enough for us, so when we found the right family for Jax we gave him away. But we missed him! We'd like to have a dachshund again someday.
