Dexter came into our lives as a rescue dog after I'd had several years of interacting with a co-worker's two dachshunds. He was roughly four years old when we got him, and we were told that as an adult, he would be nearly impossible to train –dachshunds have a reputation for being incredibly stubborn, willful and tough to influence. We found that with consistency in our interactions and food as a reward (always food – this dog is a bottomless hole) he quickly learned the difference from right and wrong. Three years later he's a loving, affectionate and charismatic dog (who will still occasionally see what he can get away with).
