My personal experience with a Dachshund dog

Hi everyone,

I would like to share my personal experience with our Dachshund dog, Klaus. My husband and I have had this dog for about 3 years and we got him as a puppy from a friend of ours. I think dachshunds are obedient dogs when they are young, however to train them into real hunting dogs you have to start early when they are still puppies. Unfortunately in our case we did not start early so Klaus ended up quite naughty and lazy.

Whenever we went outside, I had to carry him around in my hands as Klaus constantly refused to walk by himself. It was tricky as I had to look after my son at the same time while carrying Klaus. I think Dachshunds are ideal in a house (not apartments!) and when they are properly trained from young. Klaus isn't difficult at all, just lazy at times. I won't choose a Dachshund again but if you have a large house and time to train them from when they are young, they are an excellent choice!
