The love we had for our dachshund named George was tremendous. The time we had with him was never with out a laugh, he was the entertainer our family. The one thing I will say about the breed is that if they are not fixed they will run away, in our experience that is what occurred. Until, George was fixed, he was a roamer, all over the neighborhood. Other than that, a sweet, people pleasing breed. He was very easy to care for, grooming was a cinch and his diet was simple too. There was never a dull moment, watching George with his short little legs and stout chest strut around the living room with his favorite toy. Or when he would bark, and bark he did a lot of, it seemed like he thought he was so tough each time.As a matter of fact, I remember the very first time he barked, and he scared himself so bad that he lost his footing and tripped while standing still. So cute, and loveable, although, dachshunds may prefer to have a companion such as a mate or another sibling like themselves so they do not get lonely.
